im new to the world of customs and gaining an addiction. im quickly replacing my production work knives with customs. my edc pocket knife is currently a microtech makora ii. im military senior military so thats how i get around the legality. im looking for something that has around 3" and id like a framelock. id like to avoid anything "pretty" or "flashy" but still has some originality to it. im also not trying to drop the type of cash that a strider would run. if anyone can post here or shoot me a maker to check out id be grateful and if anyone reading this is packing a custom folder post em up!! and blade material and durability are very important, if it belongs to me its getting used. thanks all.

I have two knives by Ray and couldn't be happier. Super smooth and great quality. He prices his work very well and is great to work with, you have to be quick to get the stuff he posts for sale here but he will make something for you if you give him the criteria you want.

Might be more than you would like to spend...but two worth investigating are Sniper Bladeworks and Direware. Prices start around 500.00
Blade length on the Direware Solo V-2 is 3.30 inches with only one style blade. Sniper Bladeworks blade lengths range from 3-4" depending on model and blade style.

Sniper Bladeworks builds framelocks and linerlocks. Below is my POC which is a large liner lock. Waiting on two other Sniper Bladeworks framelocks and have a Direware Solo V-2 framelock on order.

im doing my research and ill start emailing this week. im shooting for under $300. im grateful for all the input thus far!!

I think it's very interesting that certain 'forged fixed blade' makers are starting to show interest in making folders. There is a whole new world of folders upon us, I believe, lots of interesting developments starting to take hold....

I would look at Hinderer, especially since you are military and can purchase directly from him. A 3" XM-18 will run you $385, if the price on the Hinderer section.
