I have 3 Microtech Ultratech's that in the near future I would like to have sharpened to a polished razor edge. I'm looking for an experienced knife guy that takes pride in his work and is also highly recommended and trustworthy.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

I would normally say Jason B (right here on BF in MT&E) is a highly recommended, highly skilled, professional sharpener. I say "normally" because some of the Microtech blades are very, very thick and can't reasonably be sharpened to an edge that most people would expect. Jason has said in the past that he won't sharpen some specific models of Microtech blades any more (I think).

I'm sure he will read this within the next 24 hours or so and probably comment. If he will work on your blade, you would have a hard time choosing a better sharpener.

Brian.

Thank you Brian,

Good memory too!

While I love to sharpen I know my limits for frustrating tasks. I will gladly pass on these.

Same goes here, I love to sharpen but they look beyond my abilities. I prefer paper wheels but I'm extremely hesitant to touch the Ultratech's with them. Not really enough blade to use a Lansky either.

They just have poor blade geometry, this makes sharpening near impossible at times. I wouldn't put them on a grinder, the chance of wrecking one is pretty high.

Thanks for the info guys. For $700 worth of knives it might be time to invest in some nice wet stones and spend the next few months honing these Elmax blades.
