Looking for recommendations on an EDC shoulder bag

Can anyone recommend a good shoulder bag that I can use to EDC my stuff. Every bag I have checked out sits to high up when worn across my body or is either too wide where it hits things, or two long and looks like a purse. I have tried a few Maxpedition bags but all of them fall into one of the two categories. I basically want it to hold some pocket items so I can get to them quickly. Pens, folder, multi-tool, keys, flashlight, wallet and any other small items I normally carry in my pockets.

I am tired of reaching into my pocket and running my hand against knives and pens or having my flashlight turn sideways and make it look like I am unusually "excited" about meeting new people.

Any recommendations?

I just ordered a MountainSmith Tour to try as I'm in the same boat. I didn't want anything tactical but wanted something I could use on a day hike. My other option was a LowePro Nova 160 or 170 Camera bag. I passed on the LowePro at the last minute and went with the MountainSmith.

It sounds like the Tour might be a bit bigger than you're looking for but they do have some smaller like the Swift.

I checked them out. Good looking stuff but it was much too big for what I need.

I use Maxpedition's Fatboy S-type Versipack in black...left hand carry, plenty of capacity for what I need..looks somewhat like a camera bag. I carry the usual stuff plus GPS, compass, cellphone, camera, flashlight, 9 Shield or 26[if not IWB] and extra mag. Pocket carry an EDC auto knife[Kershaw 7000 Breakout] and money clip.

Works for me, I especially like my strong side clear.

Best.

All on top of my head . . .

Becker will be coming out with its field bag very soon.

Very EDC-organized and is the closest rival with Maxpedition, some even say better-designed.

Very functional and civilian-looking

Untamed, you have the win. The Hazard4 Tonto Mini is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you!

And thanks to everyone else that responded. I really appreciate it!

There is also the nite ize pockits.........thingy. Its kinda like a giant cell phone holder with room for multitools, flashlights, and other stuff.

This looks pretty nice. I might get one of these as well.

I should probably explain. I already wear a large backpack that goes with me to and from work everyday containing some gear and my laptop. What I was looking for was specifically a small waist-bag. Still, some neat stuff being recommended.
