Looking For Recommendations. . .

I'm looking for recommendations for a camping/utility/general purpose folder. I have a fixed blade for general camping duties, but would like something more "portable" to carry while hiking and for other general purpose tasks. I am not a collector, but would like something that is of above average quality and has superior ergonomics (a primary consideration). I'd like something that's going to "last". . .

I've done a bit of research, and have narrowed down some design criteria that I'd like to stick with:

Max budget: $250
Overall length (open): less than 8 1/2"
Blade length: 3 1/2" or less
Lock style: frame lock or push button
Opening style: flipper or "hole style"
Blade shape: drop point or modified drop point (I'd like a relatively tall blade)
Blade steel: CTS-XHP or CTS-204P (my son is a metallurgist and works for Carpenter. . .would like to support him!), or equal
Scales: Ti, G10, or CF

I have a couple of candidates in mind (they don't necessarily meet all my design criteria):
Viper Fortis
Spyderco Shaman
Hogue EX-01

What else should I be looking at?

Thanks!

My first thoughts are a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian, Benchmade Bug Out, or a Spyderco Native Lightweight. Because those are what I use for that purpose. None meet the Carpenter spec. But I'll bump your question back up to the first page. ;^)

I agree, native 5 and bugout would work well for you. Bugout is my most carried knife. Something that size around that price range I also like is the para 3 and the Kershaw skyline for something a little cheaper. For larger I like the full size griptillian, I prefer the hogue Ritter, the para 2, manix 2, and the Shaman. I don't own the manix 2 at the moment, but I do have a maxamet para 2 and the Shaman. The Shaman is heavier and beefier is that's what your looking for, but I still prefer the para 2 over it. I do love them both though.

GTI Delta

It's cts-bd1 steel, so still a carpenter steel, but a bit easier to sharpen to a fine edge without anything fancy then the other two you mentioned.

Ti handle

(Made in usa)

Under your price range

Flipper

And meets all other size requirements, with a new patent pending lock mechanism that I know nothing about, but it looks intetesting.

Thanks for the replies!

The Cold Steel AD-10 and AD-15 are interesting.
The GTI Delta is nice, but the natural TI finish is too bling for my tastes. There's a Blade Show video showing different finishes. . .maybe.
