I had to give up my trusty Micra a few days ago because I foolishly forgot to take it off my keychain before I went through a security checkpoint. Before I replace it, either with another Micra or maybe a Squirt, are there any manufacturers or specific mini-multitools that I should check out?

have been edc'ing a LM Juice S2 for the past 4 weeks or so. Front left pocket. Don't even know it's there till I need it. It has medium duty use pliers plus it has the scissors the Micra had. I know everybody has an opinion, but it gets my vote. Thanks

I replaced my Micra with a Squirt P4 in order to have the pliers instead of scissors. I like the fact that you don't have to open the pliers in order to get at the other tools. The SOG CrossGrip (pliers) and CrossCut (scissors) are also nice mini-multitools.

I have a Micra and a Sqirt P4. I prefer the Micra because of how you can use the tools with the Micra open, thereby giving yourself more of a grip to hang onto. I recommend another Micra.

After a period of EDC with an S4, eventually I went back to my ten year old Micra. Although the Squirt features outside opening implements and is a bit more hand and pocket friendly, I have often used the Micra in extension mode to get at hard to reach areas, or to thin the driver profile for countersunk screws. Only the Squirt phillips works that way. All things considered, I think Leatherman got it right first time.

Of course, if you are Jonesing for cute little pliers, the Squirt P4 is, IMHO, the only one to consider. Apart from its other fine qualities, it is the best keychain finger toy, ever. :D

Due to their simplicity I am fond of the Swiss+Tech microtechnicians. If you want real scissors though you are out of luck with these. Maybe a Vic classic instead?

I'd get another Micra unless you want pliers, in which case look at the P4 and the SOG Cross Grip.

I love my micra, but i lost it need another. but for small pliers I have a pair of swiss tech. i am surprised I haven't broke the rivot in them cause sometimes I use the screwdrive of the swiss tech with them open making it a T-handle for tight tough screws. Pat

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately I'm still undecided. I was pretty sure I was going to get a Squirt but as znapschatz mentioned, I do open the Micra to extend the reach of the tools sometimes.
