I want to download some ringtones for my Nokia 6165. I cant download them from my service provider because I don't subscribe to mobile internet. Any decent sites to download some ringtones? I don't mind paying for them, I just don't want a reoccuring charge of something fishy.

If you don't have wireless data access of some kind, pay websites won't help.

It looks like your phone (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=842 I hope) has Infrared and Bluetooth, and suports MP3s. Find an IR or Bluetooth adapter for your PC for $10 (you have to look around, but it can be found), then download a free program called MPTrim to cut out a 30-second clip of any of your millions of MP3 files, and send it over to your phone (probably have to use Nokia's PC suite or whatever they call it, also free). Over time it's a lot cheaper than paying $3 for every new ring tone you want, but you will have to spend some time goofing around with the whole setup.

Ringtones generally drive me to distraction, and it seems lately that the folks who have the newest, bestest musical numbers seem duty-bound to let the whole damn thing play through just to show everyone else how cool they are...

That being said, there's only one I would like to have, and thats the "presidential hotline" ring from Our Man Flint. Havn't found it anywhere.

I did find an archived WAV file of the effect, but I understand you need a program to convert WAVs into a form for your phone to use, and different phone manufacturers use different formats.

This is what I use and it works great....

download this then you can add any music file you want to it and edit it before sending it to your phone, you can pick out just the part you want for your ringtone.

The only costs is whatever your service charges for each kilobyte....Its cheaper than buying it from your service :D

I use Acoustica to chop and edit my mp3's to use as ringtones on my Sony w810i... But you would need to get a data cable ot bluetooth port so you can interface with your computer to use them.
