We are getting ready to bring another heat treat oven online. This got me thinking about doing some optimizing of heat treating. I have had customers send me scraps for different alloys in the past for testing. I figured I would reach out on here and see if any of you guys had any blade steel scraps laying around that you would not mind donating to the cause. I had looked at buying a bar of each thing to do testing but figured I would see if you guys have anything kicking around.

Thanks - JT

Lol..I only have 5160 and 15n20....both of which I got from you. So I'm pretty sure you have those covered.

How big of pieces? I have some s35vn and m2 and CPM M4 and maybe a few others but they are somewhat small

JT - I have:
cpm154
s35vn
A2

The A2 is a square piece .... but I can take off a corner (that would usually get hacked off anyway to cut out a handle.

Like Storm asked - how big a piece do you want/ can use?

It can be a small chunk I would say 1/2” square/round/exc. thanks guys - JT

Thanks a whole ton guys.

EDIT: yes 99114

I've got an entire Elmax 8" chef blank that I will never get around to working on.

What thickness is it?
I might wanna buy this off you. Depending on the thickness
I measured it last night after I posted and it's a consistent 0.10" thick.
Approximately 8 3/8" long from heel to tip, 2 7/8" high at the heel, 13 3/8" overall.
Pretty sure the correct description would be a western style gyuto, full tang with 3 holes.

Idk if you still need this???

Maybe make a list in your opening post of what you want, steel wise?

I'm just finishing up roughing my First blade, and I'd like you to heat treat it...... I'm still reading/learning how to send it to you.

It's a huge Bowie made of 80crv2.
5/32" thick

let me know if you want a chunk?
Just don't get them mixed up, haha :)
