Like the knife but couldn't care less for the sheath it came with. Since the knife was $20, I'd rather not spend too much on a sheath. But that may not be feasible. I am looking for an "off the shelf" sheath that fits the 5.5" blade on the peace maker III. Leather or kydex is fine. Open to any suggestions. Thanks.

Define "off the shelf". If you're looking for a maker, we can move this to the right forum. If you're looking for something like a universal fit sheath, you won't find anything in Kydex. Not sure about leather, but nylon type sheaths might be an option.

Assembly line produced, lower cost. Hard to justify a lot of money spent on sheath for $20 knife. Was considering making a leather one myself.

If ya want to take that route there's plenty of help here. I once made three sheaths for a guy that had spent $15 on a set of three Harbor Freight Anza type knockoffs. Never did understand that. Each sheath was four times what he'd spent on the knives. He was happy though so I was too.

Personally I wouldn't have an issue with paying more for the sheath than the knife. The way I see it, if the sheath is lousy I'm less likely to carry the knife. That's no fun. Otoh if you can find something suitable that is inexpensive and works there's nothing wrong with that. :)

Like Dave pointed out, if you decide to make your own you'll have plenty of help. It's cooler to have something made by your own two hands.

True. I don't carry it because I hate the original sheath. I may end up making my own. I prefer leather anyway. I guess I would be better off paying more for sheath. Otherwise money spent on knife purchase is wasted.
