Hi All

First off if I am posting this message in the wrong forum please let me know. I am new here and still learning my way around. I am looking for a battle mistress old or new that I can strap to my backpack. Here is the kicker though, I want the blade 3/16 or thinner. Weight is a huge concern and 1/4 and larger are just too heavy. I know there were variants made in the thinner blades. Also I want to stick with the infi steel. If there are other Busse's with the blade say 8.5 inches or longer with the 3/16 inch thick blade I am up for that as well. Basically this would be a working knife.
I also have a skinny ash already so that fits the bill for a smaller blade, but I would also like a busse in the 5 or 6 inch blade size with even a slimmer blade than the 3/16 for my day pack that is very light. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you very much for your time
Mark

The ZTBM (ergo) is pretty skinny, but they're not easy to find. You could get a CG FBM (1/4") and send it to Ban or someone else and have them thin it down, or do it yourself if you know how.

A camp chopper, 13" OAL lots of millwork to lighten it up. A-2 Steel, Now who would make such a thing???????????????

Welcome to our forum!

I'm pretty sure that the Zero Tolerance Battle Mistress (ZTBM) is the only Busse that will fit your particulars.

Post a WTB in the correct forum, and you may get lucky. My guess is that it will cost you more than $500. Someone else may help fine tune that estimate.

You want one of these:thumbup:

You could get a Busse Basic 9, which weighs about the same as your Skinny ASH1--about 15 oz. The B9 has a 9 inch blade, Resiprene-C handle (hard rubber like), and still has a 1/4" thick blade. Here's a link to a destruction test, showing what it's capable of:

The knife is no longer made, but you can find them for sale occasionally on the Exchange Forum here for under $400 with sheath.

In this same vein, for your small, lightweight pack knife go with a Basic 5 which weighs only half what your Skinny ASH weighs (about 7.5 oz), with a 1/4" thick blade and Resiprene-C handle. No longer made but also available from time to time on the Exchange Forum here.

Good call Will.

One should never forget the Basics.

Also if you wanted a 1/4in thick FBM could be thinned out with the addition of a long and slightly wide false edge or the like up top to remove a bit of weight. Same would apply to almost any knife :)

ZTBM is the thinnest BM. I own one. She will never be for sale. You gotta love that ergo handle on a big chopper.
