Looking for some EDC advice....

First just wanted to say hi, new guy but been lurking awhile. I'm looking for some EDC advice. Currently, all I have is a Swiss Army knife given to me by my late grandmother (a Spartan model, IIRC) that I connected to a mini-maglite. I had a crappy locking knife with a partially serrated blade that came with a multi-tool too. The knife broke last winter, and I've kept the multi-tool, which has been quite usual, but, surprise surprise it also broke last week (I'll be looking for a decent multi-tool too, but that's another can of worms). I'm just used to carrying more than one knife, I have been since I was like 12. As Hannibal would say, "Overkill is underrated."
Anyway, I've been trying to look for a new knife and I haven't been having much luck. I was looking at a Ruko: http://www.rukoproducts.com/cart/index.php?target=products&product_id=220
I can buy it in store locally, but so far I haven't read good things about Ruko...
So far my short list is:
-Ka-bar or variant (always wanted one)
-SOG Flash II
-Benchmade Griptillian or Mini
-Cold Steel Double Agent (probably DA II)

Just looking for something decent but not pricey, affordable but not cheap....

what do you do everyday?, i work in a warehouse and cut mostly cardboard. if that's your occupation then i recommend a kershaw leek. its affordable great quality and very good edc. some other choices are spyderco delica, crkt m16-01kz,spyderco tenacious, kershaw skyline is one of the best edc blades of all time in my opinion. those are what i suggest as far as what i do for everyday tasks. all can be had for under 60 bucks each too.

truck driver actually...

I just looked at the skyline, it seems like a decent no-nonsense knife...made in the US is a great touch too...

Definitely the Griptilian from that list. Also check out Spyderco and Kershaw. Most everything from those 3 companies will be quality.

Welcome, live near Tillsonburg.... and here is where you can find a not bad deal on the net (no customs).

Skip the Skyline....flimsy.

Get a Delica or if your paws are big an Endura. Great EDC knives at a good price.

Or...a Tenacious. A lot of knife for less.

Nothing wrong with that Spartan. Unless you really need a one-hand opener, etc. a good Swiss Army Knife will prove itself very useful.

Spyderco Delica or Endura are great values. Excellent cutting tools for good prices.

The BM Griptilian has "truck driver" written all over it:
- 154CM steel
- AXIS lock
- Great blade profile
- Made in U.S.
Does that say truck driver? Hmm...maybe...maybe not.

But alas, I am biased toward BM knives.

I doubt though, that you could go wrong with the Delica either..........

The answer to the question "Which knife for EDC?" will always be the Spyderco Military. You're welcome. :D

I picked up a used flash II on ebay and sent it back to SOG for their $9 workover.

I'll be into it for $30; only handled the knife for a little bit before I sent it to the factory, but it feels less than solid to me. I think it's because the thing is so darned light.

My next knife will be the DPx HEST/f after spending a little time here on BF.

Give the Benchmade Ritter grip a look, as well as the Spyderco Manix 2. I own them both and they are solid knives that stack up well against some of the more expensive knives that I own.

You have lots of options already listed. The Endura and Delica from Spyderco are excellent quality knives. The Rookie and Para are also good options, just a little pricier.
Personally, you aren't going to find good deals up here at any of the major retailers up here, and CT just sells blah knives, imo. You will find some good deals in the Exchange here. I wouldn't recommend the Mili. It is a very large handled knife and I found that it dug into my leg every pothole/frost heave I run into. (not trying to run a good knife down, but we have horrible roads over here in MB and I've been over some beauts in ON as well) The Cold Steel Lawman/jr I have read many good things about also. Everything I've mentioned is under $100. BM940 is an excellent knife and can be found in the exchange frequently for a little over $100. You also mention liking multi's. The Leatherman Charge in any of its configurations is excellent, I've had a tti and currently have an ALX in my bag, but I just carry a Squirt in my pocket, holds up well and comes in handy (especially when pulling out DG placcards) There's a ton of good choices out there but buy quality and you'll be pleased.

Endura and Griptilian are the knives to go for for a start. Both are very comfortable to carry and in general good quality knives - no Ruko!
