MODS: please do me a favor and refrain from moving this thread for the time being. I would really appreciate it. I would really like it if I can get the largest number of people possible to see and perhaps respond to this thread. I did not post this in the laws specific sub forum only because of that reason and also because it has to do with firearms as well. I leave in one week so after that I have no issue with this being archived anyplace in the world. But for now please, please, please let this stay here.

Well folks, looks like I have to go to Chicago for a few days and I need some help. I am looking for advice and information regarding the laws on knives and pistols for concealed carry. I have been doing a bit of research but I may not be looking in the right places. Perhaps some people in the know could chime in.

Does Illinois recognize a CPL/CCW issued my the state of MI?
If not what is the process in which I can carry a firearm legally?
What are Illinois/Chicago laws on folding knives? (I have read the one thread I could find here on BF but mostly it just says, 2.5" and no spring, auto or switch blades) (is that even correct or up to date info?)

Any help would be appreciated
 
I do believe the 2.5 inch restriction is accurate, and I am certain that it is illegal to own or carry autos in Illinois. I will leave the CCW questions to a more informed person.

Looks like my knife questions have been answered but I still have answers on CPL/CCW. Anymore info people? I sure do appreciate all the help so far.
