Hey all, first post here!
I'm not sure if this is the right place to do this, so please kindly let me know if I am doing something wrong.
I've been messing around with knifemaking sporadically for a few years now, and I'm starting to get somewhat serious - though I wouldn't say I'm any good.
Anyway, I'm coming here to ask if anybody is in the West Los Angeles/Santa Monica area and is willing to give a poor newbie college student some tips for the craft and how to get better (and maybe help make a new work rest for my crappy grinder and a new forge - I don't have a welder which seems to be something I need for basically everything)
Again, sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I look forward to talking to you guys and learning!

Newbie here too, in Missouri.
Certainly willing to share what I know. Though I don't forge, purely stock removal.
You should post some pictures of your work.

Stock removal here too. I just have a crappy forge that I made for heat treating. And I probably will make some posts. Where should I do that? Sorry dumb question

There’s a calknives group u can join. Visit their monthly meetings. There’s several makers around you that u will meet including an accomplished bladesmith near Pico and Sawtelle, another one in Malibu.

google calknives

btw if you are a college student you are probably a lot richer than you think you are, certainly richer than about 3 billion other people in this world.
