I am a huge fan of reading and am always looking for a new book. I love anything that is based on real life and especially military topics. I am also a huge fan of biographies about influential people of the past. Looking for a few suggestions from my friends here. What are you guys reading?

Thanks
Joshua

Do you like Tom Clancy? Not exactly "based on real life", but very entertaining. I liked "Red Storm Rising" very much. Or, if you wanted to enter in the mind of a maniac, "Mein Kampf", by none other than A. Hitler.

I have heard alot of good things about Clancy. Never read anything from him but I will def look into his work. I almost bought Mein kampf a few weeks ago. Might have to just get it and see.

Regarding "Mein Kampf", it' interesting in the sense that you just can't fathom the thinking that goes in the mind of someone like Hitler. That "book" is just pure hatred. Problem is many people take the ideas expressed there as somtheing to live by.

I just finished"grey wolf" can't remember the writers nam I think it was a couple of british guys. Anyway its about the theory that hitler survived and lived out his days in south america. Supposedlya true story, just kind of presents the facts.

If you want some fiction, "enders game" by orson scott card, should be read by everyone in my opinion. Its a very good book.

Will def look into those books. I have become a huge fan of Mitch Album. He is an amazing story teller. So of his books are true stories and some are not.

The book I'm reading now Pokey lent me. It's Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. It's actually really good. There are so many twists in the book. It was confusing at first but once I got the basic idea of how it was written, I enjoyed it and have been since. It's definitely worth a look

Day By Day Armageddon. There's 3 in the series. May or may not be more coming, but it's a series of zombie books basically a journal in the first person by a well prepared Naval officer. It's basically a zombie series based in reality. Also Patient Zero is awesome!

The Walking Drum by Louis L'Amour is a wonderful book. he mostly wrote westerns (I'm not a fan) but this is about a boy on a search for knowledge and reveng. The thing I love about it is most books in cumpass a few weeks but this book tells the story of a quarter of his life. It's long but worth reading.

Joshua, have you read World War Z yet? Not just a brainless piece of zombie literature. There was a lot if thought in that book.

I have read a couple of biographies of Churchill, simply the most amazing man of the twentieth century. Right now I am re-reading the works of Poe as well as the Jack Reacher novels.
