That's it. If you have any old antlers laying around that are big enough to make a few handles send them on. We'll send you a villager or blem of some kind for your trouble.

Careful.

It is my understanding that sale of any white-tail parts or products in many states is pretty much illegal, regardless of circumstance--there probably is some kind of exemption for pieces of a certain age, which likely requires documentation.

Lots of the legal stuff comes from farmed, non-native red deer.

Dunno how they tell, but I've heard of confiscations at knife shows. Perhaps someone in the makers' forum can provide more info. Or a search there. It's been discussed I think.

This could lead to some problems that I am sure you can live without.

Very sorry to be a party-pooper.

Firkin?

You are right, BUT

If the trophy parts are given as a gift, or (in WI) are hide/antler/fur/feathers, it is not a problem, they can be sold. Squirrel tails are a wide-spread example, used for fly fishing lures. If there is an endangered species involved, all bets are off.

In this instance, the antlers would be a gift to Bill with no expectation of consideration; in turn, Bill would be sending an unspecified "thank you" gift to the person for their generosity.

Be hard put to find illegality in there unless Ken Starr was on the case. :D

I'm pretty sure on this one.

Kis

(Bill? I'll ask around, but I sent all mine to this cranky guy in NV. :p )

Kis, the catch is that they will expect the seller of a white-tail handled knife to PROVE what you describe is the case. The seller gets to be Ken Starr or lose the knife, and face a possible fine.

And I don't know if things are the same in all states.

I don't know if customs monitors export either.

Might be trouble, might not. It's sad. I know some makers have had a rough time with this.

Kis is right about the antler. Give it as a gift and it's ok.

Bill - I don't have any antler.....but do you have any use for some fancy hardwoods? I can send a bunch when I get moved in.

Are these for dhankutas and kothimodas, etc.?

I have some buffalo bone that would make some nice karda/chakma handles. Got it for free from mamav...just have to keep one piece...;)

I wouldn't presume to tell anyone what is legal or not.

(18! 18! she's gotta be 18!)

This place is selling something they call whitetail antler parts.

Moscow Hide and Fur

However I thought that what was used for grips on weapons (pistols and knives) wasn't American Deer but Stag. Like Indian (as in India) staghorn.

Uncle Bill,

Do you ever get Kuhks in that the handle is completely broken? I would like to try putting a handle on one, and just thought I'd ask.

Bill?

Firkin? Wouldn't a bill of sale or a note of gifting work as proof?

Kis

Fact is I don't know. The way the gov. "thinks", sending it to Nepal (I'm just guessing that is what the idea is, I could be completely wrong--it has happened before--maybe Bill bought a bigger bed and doesn't have doesn't have enough khuks to fill all the space under there or the dust bunnies are revolting) and importing as finished product could be viewed as some sort of "laundering". I'm quite sure the Kamis ain't gonna keep track of each piece and I'm quite sure that's what a zealous gov. agent looking to score a permanent soft spot in the bureaucracy that we all pay for would require.

I'nm not a lawyer, but considering the potential consequences I honestly think it isn't a bad idea to consult one in this case.

But all I really know is a little voice is saying "Danger, Will Robinson"

Yes, it really sucks. Call me vicariously paranoid if you like.

I won't mind.

Hell, everything is against the law anymore.

Thanks for tip on ebay. I'll check this out. I never go to ebay or anyplace else except health sites so don't know what goes on there.

Package coming from Prescott, AZ. Hope you can use. At least should be good for the tool tips on a Berk Spl.
