Hey guys, my new flavor of the week is a customized Delica. i've seen a few of them and have decided that I'd really like to get one done. I've already contacted one person who does that, but he couldn't get the knves at a good pirce or do all of the modification that I would like. So, I'm here aksing you guys. Here's what I have in mind:

I'd like to have a SS Delica modified with some wood scales. Now, I really don't want the knife to be too thick so do you think that it would be possilbe to thin the original SS scales or not? I'm not sure about the wood either. This knife will be a user, so what wood would you recommend? I'd also like to have the clip mounted for left hand carry and have some thumb grooves cut on the spine of the balde. Oh, I forgot, I would like to have the sla;es held down with screws or pins instead of glue. That's about it. Tell me wht you think or e-mail me if you're interested. Thanks.

p.s. was this the right forum to post this in?

This could be done with screws. The scales could also be made quite thin, 1/16 thick. The only problem I see is the clip? It would have to be mounted to the wood and it would be tough to drill and tap the holes on the other side of the knife without taking it apart. The clip could be mounter for tip up carry easily. Email me off of the forums and we can discuss it more.

I would recommend buying a FRN delica and having liners and scales made. I did one that way with rosewood and .040" 410 stainless liners. Its not too bad of a job and the knife can be as thin or thick as you like. The biggest challenge is the metric pinstock, and makign a backspacer that holds the spring at the right angle.
You get the better bladesteel that way anyhow :)

Matt, yeah I thought about that but that would probaly raise the price quite a bit and I want to keep it fairly inexpensive. Striper, I'll get an e-mail out to you shortly.
