Ok, my mind is slipping a bit and I want a rather extreme toy.

Want it to still be functional and durable though, not some 63 bladed, bat shaped lawnmower. (well ok, that sounds pretty cool also, but not what I'm looking for now)

I really like the Szabo Orge. However, recently saw a pic of Eric Blair's Toxic Slaughter. Not sure how useful the thing is, but it looked cool:D

Is TAD the only place to get Eric's stuff?
How are his products?
Availability?
Cost?

Any other makers/suggestions for me to look at?

Thanks in advance!

And Yes, I know I have issues:p

Hmmmm, A guy just wrote about talking to John Greco, At the time he had 6 whispers left. I have a Falcon from him and I think it's great. With the blade being at .180 " it is pretty extreme And the price is great too.

Now if ya wanna spend more bucks for the absolute king of extreme (extrema) How about an Extrema Ratio M.P.C. I just got one from http://www.bestknives.com They sent it out and I got it in record time. The thing is a monster slayer, really. I would even compare this baby with some fixed blades knives.

Oh and they look better in real life. Pictures don't do this thing justice. The fit and finnish is flawless too. No rough edges anywhere even inside the handle. It opens smoothly and gives a pleasing click when the lock engages.

For raw durability, you can't beat Greco's knives but they don't look extreme. I have the Falcon and Raptor folders and I think I would hurt myself trying to damage them.

Have you looked at the rest of Laci Szabo's catalog? Very dangerous concepts -- check out the butterfly knives and realize that they are much heavier than they look and extremely sharp. I've never handled Eric's work but it does look wicked.

Warren Thomas has some nice looking stuff, but really not cheap.

Take a look at RJ Martin's Avenger. Ambi opening, wicked mother of a blade, bank vault solid frame lock, secure grip and a very stylish package. It's handle scale design is reminiscent of both Alien and Jurassic Park to me, and someone would have no qualms taking on a dinosaur or Alien with one.

ricoshay, I meant to post that John Greco had only 6 X-plorers left, prior to my purchase. I'm gonna head to my post and see if I need to edit.

ohen,

Eric's stuff is awesome, price is more than fair (or should I say less, LOL!), and availability is fair-to-good, depending on his work-load. Eric heads-up the USN, and you can catch him there.

"Extreme" is different to everyone -- what I consider to be out there may be bland in another's view.

:)

The best you can do, IMHO, is to get as much "exposure" as possible, by looking at as many enthusiast Forums and high-end retailer/dealer and maker websites.

:)

If you're going all-out and are going to be parting with big bucks, you should definitely do a LOT of research, first.

Laci Szabo, Eric Blair, and Warren Thomas are certainly good choices for the exotic...some other options are Liong Mah (Ancient Soul) and Steve Ryan.

Here are my two Liong Mah designs...a Dreadnought folder (made by Larry Davidson)

And Rogue folding karambit (made by Jeff Hall)

Check out the rest of Laci's line up. The Ogre is just one of his line up of nasty stuff. I can vouch for the quality of Rob Newtons work. Laci is also a pleasure to deal with. Count me in to second the Szabo suggestion.
