Looking for Survival/first aid manuals for PPC

Hi,

I finally took the dive and bought myself a used Pocket PC an Ipaq 3975, it comes with lots of legal, paid for, software but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have any Ebooks on Survival and or First Aid and other nifty little applications that could come in handy for when I'm out with the scouts or sitting in an hotelroom when at work for my company.
I think I read somewhere about an solar compass application, perhaps even star constellations and navigation etc.

If anybody knows where to get nice Pocket PC stuff for not to much money please let me know.

Also has anybody any experience with hooking up an Garmin GPS to an Pocket PC (the Ipaq) ?
I'm pretty sure that Garmins mapsource won't work on PPC but is there something else that will and is freeware/shareware.

Can you read .pdf files on the Pocket PC? There's a lot of material in .pdf format that's downloadable...US military field manuals (survival, evasion, NBC warfare), as well as general handbooks and manuals from various outdoor organizations.

Hey Piet - I kow there's an adobe acrobat reader for the palm OS, so I'm gonna guess there's one for the Pocket PC - if so, the US Military has their survival manual & first aid manual available for download as pdf files.

If you can't download the large files, email me & I'll send them to you on a CD.

Hi Elis, Sam,

Thanks for the answers, I must confess I have no clue as to wether there is an PDF reader on Pocket PC 2002, I guess there should be and I have already some downlaods of military manuals ( FM5-33, FM21-76, FM23-10) and also some .PDB files which seems to be an format used on PDA's and/or Pocket PC's.

Well I'm hoping that just about now the Ipaq will be delivered in San Diego so with some luck I'll have it in about 2-3 weeks time.

Hopefully with the 128 MB SD card I'll be able to store some nice collection of 'stuff' on my Pocket PC.
