My dad had a survival knife years ago and a family member lost it. I have been trying to find him another one. He bought it at a knife store in Gatlinburg 20+ years ago. He says it was a Jim Marta knife, but I can’t seem to find anything on that. Can someone help me out with this?

Might Jim Marta be or was a local or regional custom knife maker?
I didn't find anything on him or his knives in a quickie web search.

Do you have any information about the knife: like;
1. When was it purchase
2. Folder or fixed blade
3. Kind of lock mechanism (if any)
4. Kind of sheath (if any)
5. Handle type
6. Blade length
7. Stock thickness
8. Blade steel

The term “survival knife” has been applied to everything from a Swiss Army and mora knives, to hunting knives, to Rambo style hollow handle Bowie’s and every sort of camp knife. It implies a use rather than a type of knife.

The only thing you told us so far was that someone lost your father’s knife and that it may have been made by someone named Marta.

Do you have a photo of the knife?
