Looking for survival or bug out bag (BOB) companion knives

I'm looking at a couple of fixed blade knives for camping and to keep with my BOB in case SHTF. I have an Ontario Spec Plus SP8 machete to do the big tasks of chopping, splitting, shelter building, etc. That thing is a beast so I have the big jobs covered. I'm looking at a knife (or knives) to complete the rest of the spectrum. (FYI I am retired mil and living in FL and my EDC, when not in business clothes, is a SOG Vulcan.)

Specifically, looking at Esee Izula II, -3, or -4 for smaller tasks.

I have a Gerber Steadfast and a SOG Pentagon that might be useful for medium-large tasks but I'm unsure if they will match the functionality or performance I desire. So I am looking at the Spyderco Schemmp Rock for an all around camp or medium-large size knife. (Not sure if an additional knife is needed...did I just say that?)

Request your thoughts on the knives, the combo, or if you have other knives/combos that you think will fit the bill.

P.S. I have been a "lurker" here for awhile but finally made the leap to come out of the shadows. BTW thanks for all the great posts/info in the past and your help on this one!

In all my set ups I have a 3 to 4 inch fixed blade, what ever folder is in my pocket for that day. I'm not a big fan of the larger chopping type blades or machetes I tend to lean towards a nice hatchet I find that type of a tool much more useful.(Not one of those Silly war axes things)

I have 2 Eastwing sportsmen's axes one in my truck and one "webed" on to my pack that I modified the leather sheath by bolting on a tec-lock like device. I find it much better in a survival situation you can cut down a small tree, use it as a knife, dig with it and the hammer face is must have.(Im a Carpenter so I cannot live with out a hammer of some sorts)

Most of my Fixed blades are Blind Horse Knives. They are all hand made in the US and a great price point for a hand made knife with lots of different models to choose from. My personal favs are the large and Small workhorse in the D2.

@ Smokinape...Thanks...good input. I have a Gerber Multi-tool and a Leatherman Rebar put aside for the wife's.

BTW I, also, need to add a small-medium fixed blade to the wife's BOB so feel free to chime in on that as well.

Boker Vox B.O.B. Elegance (7mm thick). BK-2 (1/4" thick). BK-15. BK-16. BK-17. Or even a BUCK Silver Creek Bait Knife.

Just a few suggestions. Multi-Tool & a sharpener too.

ESEE-4 for you, ESEE-3 for the lady. And a good multi-tool as others have mentioned, Leatherman Wave or Charge.

Since you have a big beefy blade already, I'll go ahead and say that knives like the BK2, ESEE 5 and ESEE 4 are a bit thickish to be carrying around when you already have a big beastly knife.

I would actually go with a Becker BK16 for you, and the ESEE 3, Becker BK14 or Izula II for your wife.

Or a Mora, they're great for light weight work.

I have a Scrapyard Scrapivore with kydex sheath attached to the molle webbing inside my edc bag (Goruck GR1). The whole setup is extremely thin and takes up no space whatsoever, definitely my favorite backup and worth a look IMO

Bark River STS. It's my go-to what if knife. I have the 5 and 8. They are some of the best fixed blades I've owned. 154CM which would be nice in FL where you may end up in a swamp or by the coast (I'm also in FL). In a shtf type situation I wouldn't want a carbon blade.
