Hello folks,
I'm new to the forums, and thought I'd hit you all with a difficult question (well, I'm finding it tricky anyway!): what folder should I buy?
Since I was a wee lad my EDC has been a Victorinox SAK of some type or either. Currently a Classic Special Edition with horn handles or a black Climber, depending on circumstances. I'm now after something that will be my EDC for the rest of my life; something I can really be happy with, and hand down to my son one day.
So I'm looking for a single-blade folder with class. Something along the lines of the Northwoods Scagel folder #1, or a Jack Mosher or Todd Davison.
Requirements:
1) Ideally something no longer than 3 + 3/8 inches closed. 4 inches is a little too big, IMHO, for EDCing (in my environment). I've gone for a single-blade because I want to keep general bulk down to a minimum. If anyone has any recommendations that include other tools (scissors, second blade, etc), but are still relatively thin, I'd love to hear them.
2) I'd like to spend no more than $300 if possible, although I will consider up to $400 if it's perfect.
3) Elegant and classy, beautifully-made, but not an art knife. I want to use it. Something with real wood, or stag, or whatever. Nothing that looks even vaguely "tactical."
From my surfing through the forums recently, I know that there are a lot of very knowledgeable people around here, and I'm very interested to know what you all think.
Thanks,
Martin.
