Leaf styled black coated blade with molded military styled handle. Came in 2 lengths. I think it's discontinued. Did a search on Ebay under Gerber and Ka-Bar, but couldn't find anything unless it was made by another company, but 75% sure it was Gerber

Here's an image of a Bark River knife to get the idea of the blade shape of the knife

I believe that is the knife.

There's also the Applegate Fairbairn model which shows with a search of the Smatchet name

Thanks

Buck made the first Production Smatchets in a limited run. Now they are made by Boker.

Randall made one for one of their big distributors in the 90's. It is quite pricey now. It is one of the few knives that when I look at my opportunities to buy at shows and didn't... I regret that choice then. The design is called a Smatchet. I think of them as Hobbit swords. The British special forces used one in WWII. So you may well be able to find one as a surplus item.

Personally I would not like having both edges sharpened. I would make a mistake and really cut myself using one of these hard. I would look at the Kabar Cutless Machete as a single edge option. It is a pretty nice affordable big blade and big blades are popular.

Oh boy! Smatchets! :D

I'm working on a smatchet-like piece right now!

Atlanta Cutlery has a reproduction of the Smatchet available. Looks like a fine piece!

^ Whoa! I'm liking the looks of that one. Nice taking-care-of-the-Zombies tool there!
