Looking for the name of a specific knife style.

Recently I watched a youtube video done in which a knife smith showed a folding knife that had a long blade which when closed stuck out the handle about four inches I would really like to know what the style of this knife is.

Maybe he's talking about the old folding machetes in pilot survival kits (I think they were included), the same style of knife anyway.

Yup. As pointed out ion that thread they are called D'Estaing knives. Goes in a sheath. Meant to be used both opened and closed. You have a short bladed knife, and a long bladed knife all in one.
