I've seen some photos of the Zero Tolerance 0770CF and it looks like a very good looking knife almost like a gentlemen's knife not sure if I want to pre order and wait for release. On the other hand I've seen tons of reviews of the Spyderco Sage 2 and I love it, they are both in the same ball park for the money but have tons of differences in blade steel, scales, locking mechanism, and opening mechanism. I do prefer a thumb stud or spydie hole over flippers.
Check out the pictures from the official website here:

I also read that the ZT0770CF will be in limited quantities...
Looking for a knife that can last for a long time and will do what I put it up against.(Saving for a Shirogorov)

The Zero Tolerance 0770CF (with Carbon Fiber handles) will be a regular production folder not a limited edition one.

The Zero Tolerance 0770AL (with contoured aluminum handles) will be limited edition.

Hard to compare a knife that's been out a while vs one that isn't even released.

I would lean towards a Sage 2 because you can find one at a good price in the Exchange slightly used and I like the simple look of the Titanium. I am on a titanium frame lock kick though. The thing that has turned me off of some of KAI knives is that 90% of their knives have to be assisted for some reason. I used to like assisted but now I prefer either auto or manual knife. I do not care for assisted flippers and that is what turns me off from the 0770CF even though it does look fairly nice. I do know from hearing other people that the torsion bar is easy to take out of KAI knives, but I still think if your paying in that price range can they not make a smooth enough flipper that can be flipped and not need an assist from the factory.

That's a really tough choice they are both really nice. If I could only have one I would go with the Sage because I prefer Spyderco over ZT, Ti over CF, and manual over assisted opening knives. That being said the 770cf is still near the top of my knives to buy list, I really like that ZT has finally made a lightweight edc friendly knife. Another one to check out is the Spyderco Domino which is kinda like a high end flipper version of the Sage.
