Please help I am looking for a wilderness blade.

I want:
7" blade
Micarta handle

Not too much money!! around $100-$150 tops, perfer less. any ideas.

Check out Busse combat or Swamp Rat knives.

They make great knives for outing.

you might be able to get a Dozier Pro Guide's knife for that, but it's the best knife for that purpose, IMO, and it's worth every penny of the $190 or so that it goes retail.

If you can live without the Micarta handles then I fully agree with Swamp Rat Camp Tramp as being an excellent choice. It has a 7 1/2 inch blade and sells is in the price range that Trekker is looking for. Busse on the other hand are way out of the price range. The Dozier is closer to the price range, but only has a 4 3/4 inch blade, not even close to the 7 inch blade that was requested.

Trekker, what will the knife that you are looking at purchasing be used for? Would a 4 3/4 inch blade do what you need done? If so and you are willing to stretch your budget then the Dozier would make an excellent choice.

A couple of bucks more and you can get a TOPS that would most likely be exactly what your looking for.

My suggestions is to wait awhile and see what happens at Ontario. Jeff Randall is currently working on a 7" wilderness style blade to accompany his RTAK. I have seen the drawing s of this blade and it looks awesome for it's use. Best thing is the price is well under your budget. I'll see what else I can dig up on it and get back.

Check out Newt Livesay- newtlivesay.com
He does a good heat treat on 1095. Good product, good price, availability is somewhat problematic but worth it.

The Randall/Ontario 7" knife should be available in June/July. Looks like an awesome blade for the money and if it comes from Jeff you can be assured it is geared toward real world wilderness and survival skills and is a truly great design.

Considering that the price that the Ontario RAT-7 is going to be well under $100.00, it looks like a heck of a good knife.

Jamie, how did you get the picture and the attachment to show up at the same time in your post?

The Ontario-Randall 7 looks like a winner. Big enough to do a good job and small enough to come in handy in most situations.

Shall be keeping a lookout for it.

Who the hell knows, it seems that lately everytime I do something it comes out a little different.

I attached the pic, clicked on the link, copied the address and inserted the address between (img) and (/img) except you use brackets instead of parenthesis .
