It's not really gadgets/gear, and it's not a knife, so I don't know where to ask this.
Anyone know where I can get a fairly long one of these things? The good ones actually work.

Try Home Depot or the store of that sort close to you. They should have some heavy duty stuff that will work.

Something you might consider is you can cover the magnetic rack with wallpaper to match the wall behind it and make it look 'pretty'. It was a big selling point to convince my wife so I like to pass that on. ;)

Now all I have to do is convince her that Tichbourne knives are the only ones that will adhere correctly and I've got it licked. :)

Best of luck!

I haven't ever seen or heard of any bars being longer than 24 inches. I think that it is because there is just not a need for anything longer, most of the time. In most restaurants, space is a such a premium, there is not much more than 2' of available space in any one area.

As for where to find them, find a local restaurant supply house and they should be able to set you up with one or two for a fairly reasonable price( I have seen them from $20 to $40 for two feet long). They might also have contacts that could either get you one longer or have one made to your exact length.

Good luck and Take care.

This isn't to improve the sticking percentage when you're throwing knives, is it?

I bought mine at Lee Valley Tools but I suspect that the Woodcraft stores also carry them. I had to use two in parallel to safely hold the larger knives, just cut them to size with a bandsaw.

Schmackey, I worked at Chesapeake Knife and Tool several years ago and we sold them in several different lengths. They were plenty strong too. Their number is 800-531-1168.

I will second the post on Messermeister. I got one that is 24 inches long. It holds three paring knives, three chef's knives, one bread knife a carving fork, a utility slicer and kitchen scissors as well as my AG Russel Honcho knife.

Your knives will never fall off, believe me.

There is a knife shop here in San Francisco, We Be Knives, must have about 150 of these magnetic holders to display knives on their walls, all lined up.

I got mine at a local kitchen supply shop for cheap.
