I have recently purchased a tool box for my truck and would like to get a little light on the subject. I was thinking of a rechargeable utility light with 12vdc charging. I had my eye on a snap-on light but I'm not sure if I can find a 12 volt charger for it. Do you guys have any ideas?

Go over to candlepowerforums.com and all lighting related questions will be answered either by searching or posting. Good luck.

I got a solarforce Q5 led with batteries and charger delivered for $45 of ebay its a surefire copy and can be used as a wepon as its got points all along the bevel.
Plus it does put out about 200+ lumens its claimed 275 but either way its a bargain and could scare a blind man.

snap-on is going to charge you 3x what the light is worth. To better help you there are some things we need to know

1. runtime
2. size
3. output
4. LED or incan

Do you want to attach a light to the lid of your tool box so that you can see inside when you open the box? Or, are you talking about a regular rechargable flashlight?

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

I always thought mounting one of the "under the hood" on a real lights from the 89-90 Chevy trucks would be nice for a toolbox. They had about 9ft. of wire to play out.

As for flashlights, I've seen stuff like this:

but I don't recommend them, since they appear to be of questionable quality.

I'm thinking you want a real flashlight for general use to keep in the toolbox. Probably plastic cased, similiar to a Surefire G2, would work well, 50-70 lumens as more would be too bright.

There are some "police" flashlights that charge via the vehicle's system until use, but I am not familiar with them.
