Looking for utility style knives

Something similar to either a spyderco dragonfly or cold steel tuff lite, trying to avoid the tuff lite because of the poor edge retention of Aus 8a. Want to broaden my options. 2.5-3.5" blade (this is negotiable), sheepsfoot style would be excellent, anything else is okay just trying to avoid too much upward curvature at the tip. No slip joints.

Basically trying to get pretty close to your typical utility blade knife.

I would hardly say Cold Steel's AUS8a has poor edge retention. It's no CPM M4, but it's no slouch either, especially for a utility knife.

Utility is a broad term, are you looking for a box cutter, electrician's knife, fishing knife...?

Help us out and we can come up with some ideas.

You said no slip joints so my recommendation is out.

It's poor compared to things like vg10, s30v. Don't get me wrong, I love Aus 8a for its ability to reach extreme levels of sharpness and resharpen quickly, in fact I own 3 knives made out of it, but I need something better for this knife. And box cutter style is my thinking.

Recently, a Fox Knives USA Drago caught my eye so I ordered one (has yet to arrive.) It has a 154CM wharncliffe blade that's a shade over 3" and can be had for around $100...

The Tufflite is the closest you're gonna find to a box cutter, and I would think that with the type of tasks you might use such a knife for, you might be thankful for the ease of resharpening. Also, for the price, you could get a couple of them and really beat on them, guilt free.

Highly suggest checking out the insingo. Great utility blade.

If you're looking for something higher end, this is a great knife, great blade shape, great steel, great build.
