Looking for waist mounted bag to carry stuff in

I like to carry a tool pouch on my belt to carry a flashlight, knife, multitool, etc. The one I'm using now is a Nite-Ize Pock-Its, which works well enough, but I can't wear it to work because I have to wear a shirt & tie - it just doesn't go. I'm looking for something I can wear that won't look out of place in an office, conceals my goodies, bonus points if it's big enough for a cell phone, cigarettes, pad of paper, etc., also, so if anyone asks me what's in it I'll have something I can show them. A standard fanny pack wouldn't look professional enough, and it would have to fit on my belt, not come with its own.

Any ideas?

Also check Wilsons Leather or other leather/travel stores. I got a great little two pocket leather pouch that looks like it was maybe designed for a small camera. It's has a belt loop on the back and a zippered main pouch that's roughly 3x5 inches and then a smaller pouch in front that's 3x3. It makes a great little belt pouch that works well with office wear.

I actually picked this up at a Wilson's outlet store for $5.00. It was one of those things that after I bought it, I wished I'd bought a couple of them! :D

which has a belt loop and looks very professional with high quality leather and canvas... they sell it at b&H photo... pretty price at $115 but worth it.

also montbell.com has a nice small travel pouch with a belt loop.... pretty cheap at $15 but excellent quality like all their stuff....

good luck

The Maxpedition M1 is definitely what you want. Mine carries a Sebenza, Inova X1, Leatherman Micra, small notepad, space pen, money, other odds and ends and room for more. Looks just fine in any setting. Get the black one.

I take it you carry yours in an office environment. Is your office dressy (shirt-and-tie), business casual (chinos/khakis) or simply casual (bluejeans-and-sweater)?

I'd probably call it "business casual". It might look a little out of place if you're some sort of high powered executive type in the $3000 suit but it would be fine if you're the average office worker I would think.

There is a smaller version, (the M2 I think), that might be more suitable for office carry. You could probably mount this towards the back of your hip and would not be all that obvious under a suit jacket.

Thanks for the info. Appreciate it.

As for the "obviousness" factor...last time I got fitted for a suit, which was for this past Christmas, the salesman couldn't figure out why my suitcoat wouldn't drape properly. Then he "found" my mobile phone clipped to my belt. He requested I remove it, which I did. Then the coat draped perfectly.

Now whenever I get dressed up, I can't wear my phone on my belt. I tried it once. Looked like I had a huge tumor growing out of my waist. I have to put my phone in my shoulder bag.

My wife loves how I look in the suit, which is great. :D

As far as loading the pockets, forget it. The suit fits me like a glove so I can't load the pockets. I'm glad I wear the suit only for Christmas parties and funerals.

Hi Cardimon-

A good tailor can cut your garments to handle virtually anything you may have beneath them. As an example, note that Secret Service agents protecting President Bush always look like a million bucks.

No particularly noticeable bulges...even though half of them have automatic HK MP5s hanging from their shoulders beneath their jackets.

Can someone post pics of the M1 or M2 while wearing it? I also carry a Pock-It's and would like something a touch bigger (it's be nice to get my A2 out of my front pocket of my pants (especially after reading the battery explosion thread! )). The Pock-It's holds my Inova X5T, but the A2 is just a tad too big to fit.

Thanks in advance!

The Maxpedition looks perfect. I'll probably pick one up soon and let you know how it works out.

Thanks guys,

Jason

I have a M2. Its well made and i like it fine, however its not nearly as flat as the nighteyes stuff I've seen. They list the thickness at 2 inches, when mine has phone in front pocket, wallet, leatherman,e2e in main along with some first aid stuff its 4 inches thick. With its 5.5 inches height thats a big chunk hanging on your hip.

Just so you know.
