Looking for yet another knife

I'm in the market again, but this time it's for a bigger knife.

I'm looking for something in the 3.5~4 inch blade segment. I don't like linerlocks, lockbacks, thumbholes, and tip down carry (DEEP carry). Looking to spend about $140 or so, but if it's something amazing like an AFCK then I'd pay more.
I would prefer if the scales were g10, but it's not a requirement.

It's going to be a supplement to my mini-grip, if it matters.

Thanks

been doing some digging around and i've come up with, in somewhat of an order but not really:

Benchmade AFCK
+: This knife is everything holy and good and is basically exactly what I want. Also, it looks pretty cool.
-: Discontinued and pricy :(. Thumbhole.
Benchmade 710d2
+: 3.9" blade, axis lock, thumbstud, tip up carry, that recurve, G10 scales, and d2 steel.
-: I don't know if the pictures are misleading, but the clip doesn't seem to be mounted as low as I like it. I suck at sharpening recurves. Those weird cut-outs on the G10.
Benchmade 943 Osbourne
+: It's light. Tip-up carry. S30V.
-: 3.4" blade. Tip strength ?. Blade seems kinda.. thin. Scale material ?. Not very deep carry
Benchmade 615 Mini-Rukus
+: holy god it's sexy. Assisted opening. S30V. Replacable scales.
-: holy god it's expensive. Scales are basically impossible to find. As is the knife, seeing how it's discontinued now.
Spyderco Military
+: Full flat ground. S30V. G10. Functional jimping.
-: Tip-down carry. Not very deep carry. Liner lock. Thumb hole.
Spyderco Para-military
+: Compression lock. S30V. G10.
-: As expensive as a military. Still tip-down carry, and not very deep. Thumbhole.
Emerson Mini-commander
+: WAVE :D :D :D. G10. Titanium liners. Chisel ground. Belly. Tip-up carry.
-: Liner lock. Chisel ground. Sharpening difficulty. Deep carry ?

if deep pocket carry is that important you can have a custom clip made,

i would say the military or the paramilitary. the thumbhole works extremely well

here is a pic of my paramilitary with a lowrider clip.

I'd look at the Benchmade 950 Rift. Sounds like exactly what you are wanting, easy to find for $150 online, so it is barely out of the price range you want.

Way under your price range would be the Cold Steel Recon 1 . G-10 handles, Tri-Ad lock is super strong with plenty of video out there to prove it. Far from a super steel but I have a theory that whatever your cutting doesn't know or care what the blade is made of. Feels great in the hand , carries deep and easy for a big knife. For the price you can have two for less than $140 and still afford a case of Miller High Life.:)

From what it looks like, STR's backyard knifeworks charges $30 for the clip, plus if I want it to be tip-up (which I do), possibly more, plus shipping. I live in Canada, so it wouldn't be out of the question to assume $50+ for all of that, bringing both the military and paramilitary to $200. The other ones I'm looking at are that are tip-up from the factory run about $140-160, with the exception of the mini-rukus ($220) and the AFCK / TSEK (unavailable).

Thanks for the suggestion; It looks pretty promising, but I can't say I'm the biggest fan of the reverse-tanto style blade. I'll check it out though.

Interesting, I will definitely have to check it out. 2 recon 1's look to come out to about $122, but with the remaining $18, you can't really buy a case of miller high life. BC liquor stores don't even stock the stuff. The closest is Miller Genuine Draft, going for $21.60 for a case of 12, or $31.30 for a case of 18. :(

Been looking at some others:
Benchmade 930 (kulgera) (kinda on the pricy side though)
Benchmade Barrage
Spyderco Endura FFG (ffg yay, backlock boo, cool colors yay/boo, cheap yay)

so many choices :\

Note: I'm most likely going to be buying the knife locally at warriors and wonders. They've got some pretty good pricing and they're local (no shipping :D).

Ouch, a 30 rack of high life around here is only $15 plus deposit you Canadians got shafted on that one.:p

Have you looked at the Benchmade warn axis series? They are tanto and assisted. Or their H&K knives? Most are slightly under your length request (.01") But well worth looking at.

Also can't go wrong with an emerson cqc7 wave, the horseman(mini 8) is pretty sweet too. I didn't think I'd like the chisel grind, but its darned quick to sharpen, takes a fine edge, and has a good bit of metal behind the edge for strength, not to mention a thriving resale market if you decide you don't like it.

Ended up going today to check them out. Things I've learned:
1. The Benchmade 615 Rukus is big and heavy and expensive. It's very ergonomic, but I just can't justify the $250~ after tax.
2. The Spyderco Paramilitary is so incredibly light, and the lock is very secure. But, the lock is also kinda tight and takes a substantial amount of force to close it. The clip is also mounted so there's a lot of knife sticking out, and it's tipdown only.
3. The Benchmade 943 Osbourne is amazing. It wasn't what I was looking at, but it's light, it feels great, and if I were looking for something like that, it's definitely one to consider.
4. The Benchmade 710d2 is big but not that heavy, the blade is long, deployment speed is fast, and in your pocket there's an acceptable amount sticking out. The thumb stud is mounted too close to the handle though :(

I got the 710. yay. Thanks for all the help.

It came out to about $160 after taxes, vs the $250 for the 615 (second contender) and the $150+clip+tax for the (para)military, so I had enough left for a few cases of beer :)

Doesn't help there's a liquor store half a block away from warriors and wonders.
