Hello all you folksies, I need your advice. I would like to find a nice slip joint with a saw, awl and at least one blade (screwdriver/bottle opener not necessary). Something similar to a Swiss army Elecrticians Plus or Harvesters Plus, but with wood/stag... scales.

Where do I look as I am sure these would not be found new?

As always- Pictures are manditory:D

Wenger makes 3 models with wood scales but none have the saw.

Also A.G. Russell sell the Swiss Champ with Stag Scales but I think it will have more than you are looking for as far as tools. If it is just the plastic scales you object to the Victorinox Farmer is available in several colors of aluminum Alox scales

Looks good so far- thanks all. I've sent a message at SOSAK (never knew of it before).
It does not have to be SAK so keep the suggestions coming!

If you really want that combo I'd take a look at getting a Victorinox Huntsman and getting it rehandled. Should be a simple enough task, although it might be more expensive than you'd want.

he is right you can pick your vic with whatever you need and a rehandle job is fairly inexpensive. And you get to pick the type of wood scales you want, get in touch with me if ya need a guy I know a couple right here with great prices and even better work- Joel

Felinevet sells wood scales for SAK's... you could always buy a SAK you like and then get the scales you like... :D

Don't keep us in the dark though! What did you pick?

I re-scaled a Huntsman about 15 years ago, in walnut or mahogany, can't remember which. Very easy to do, with three tools: hack saw, drill, and a small file. Turned out really nice, I didn't sand it, I just let it get "pocket-worn".

thx - cpr

Actually the C4 is one that is on my way- not exactly what I wanted but very close (I'll probably turn the screwdriver into an awl. Does anybody know the steel used? I have a couple of SAKs coming from Felinevet as well (Electrician, harvester and farmer). The handle scales were not extremely important- just wanted something more traditional.

Regarding the Camillus - one of my scout knives is stainless, but I don't what type. I have a Camillus-made Remington Stockman, in 0170-6 carbon steel, so I would assume there is the possibility that you could get a Remington in Carbon. I could be wrong though. On a new knife, it would be hard to tell, until the blades took on a patina. (Which on mine happened pretty quick.)

thx - cpr
