I've been looking into buying a Hanwei Practical Plus Katana for a while now and wondered if anyone had some feedback or experience with this particular blade. I've had the pleasure of handling one in a shop and loved the feel and craftsmanship; especially for the price. Unfortunately I haven't heard about cutting ability and actual functionality though the company boasts it is perfectly "practical (no pun intended)." Any info would be greatly appreciated and I have read the review by Phil about the Practical Katana and I have to say I was satisfied with the review just curious as to specifics on the PP. Thanks to everyone for their time and help.

I've owned two, for the price they are a well made entry level tameshigiri sword...as in it will cut through tatami and hold its own VERY well for its price tag. Hanwei have been stepping quality up more and more every month so you wont be disappointed :)

I owned one and was very pleased with it. Right now I'm trying to sell it and buy a new one. My brother touched the tip and left it for a few days and when I came back to oil it, the Kisaki was black. I had to sand it down and now the temper line can't be seen at the end.
I forget why I brought that up, but be sure to take care of yours!

I will add a word of caution about buying these from the net however. I got mine from ebay for a great price and when I recieved it it had loose fittings, minor flaws in the blade (not the edge), and it would not fit in the saya propperly making drawing the sword much less enjoyable. If you are going to buy it online, make sure it is from a site you trust. As for me, I think I'm sticking to real stores.
