Awesome;

It might be helpful if you can tell us what you want the knife for... intended purpose/function... Are you looking for a folder or a fixed blade? Are you looking for an EDC (every day carry) knife? etc., etc., etc....

The more information you can give us, the better (more on point) our recommendations...

Blind ass guess... $50 price range, general use... Pick your favorite "regular size" SAK (Swiss Army Knife)... Great little knives, a lot of functionality, a "reasonable" price tag...

:D

intended purpose would be edc, and definitely a folder. im not that big on multi- tools or multi-blade knives. i also prefer a more tactical look. g10/ black linen micarta, etc. i try to steer clear of liner locks as well, i just don't really trust them if i do need to use the knife in a tactical situation.

The cold steel lawman would be a good choice. and you might be able to find one for that price you just have to shop around.

why in the heck do people even suggest sak? its ok if your a 7 yo boyscout but when you wanna cut thru anything of real thickness, your gonna want something a little better/more substancial. either way, at 50 dollar max I'd suggest anything from the Byrd (spyderco's litlte brother) line.

I like the new cold steel folders with the Triad locks. For $50 you can buy with the mini ak47 or mini lawman. For around $60 you can buy the American Lawman, AK-47 or Recon 1. They are very very strong and definitely "tactical". Nice textured g-10 handles and black blades. They even make a tanto version of the recon.

Just noticed this post. Eccvets, you are ridiculous and ignorant. Obviously you don't own a sak and/or don't know how to sharpen a knife. SAK's are knives, they cut stuff. Generally much much better than many of the new "tactical" knives with thick blades and bad grinds.

The new American Lawmans and Mini Ak-47s are excellent suggestions. I have handled and owned both at some point in time. Excellent users.

I would go with the Cold Steels, or perhaps a Spyderco Delica. Depends on whether you prioritise strength or cutting ability.

For tactical use SAK would not be good...for utility there is little better for the price.

I think another good choice would be the Cold Steel Pocket Bushman. It's a very big very strong knife. But the only thing is that it is difficult to close one handed. You could buy 2 of them for $50
