looking to buy a saber but I'm not sure if its real.

Hi, I'm new to the forums and may need some help. I'm looking at a saber at an antique shop the lady doesn't know anything about it and the only marking i can find on it is 1886 at the bottom of the blade. Can anyone help me figure out if its real or not? Anything to help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
We will need a much better description or picture of the sword. Or, a picture of a sword exactly like the one you are considering. The 1886 may have nothing to do with a date.
