Hey all!

I found out about this knife recently and of course its discontinued so its very hard to find now.

Reviews on the blade was mixed, some say it came super dull others say it came sharp. CRKT switched from using AUS6M to 440A and from what I can gather there wasnt much of a difference in performance. I really like the wrapped handle and hear the blade has a convex and has an appleseed shape like a japanese blade.

Are there any *reputable* stores still carrying these and if not is anyone looking to trade/sell theirs?

Thanks!

The steel is not the best on that one. Most people consider that pot metal with so many newer and better steels available. There is a wanted to buy subforum that you can start a thread in if you are looking for somone to sell you one. Click the Exchange button on the toolbar at the top of the forums, and scroll down to the bottom.

I would recommend a Cold Steel Recon Tanto if you are into that bladeshape.

thanks for the tip. yea its a real shame CRKT used bottom of the barrel steels for this knife, i'm sure it would have been more popular if they changed up the steel.

Hard to say, people seem to not really appreciate the tanto blade. Personally, I love a well made tanto knife. I think I own around 8 or so tanto blade folders and fixed blades and would buy more if they were available with different steels. The Recon is a pretty solid knife, it has AUS8 steel, but it is way tough. Good heat treat on that bad boy.

I have one of the first strike knives, I carry it everyday. I have the 2703. Smaller, silver blade, black handle. It is a nice looking and feeling knife, but it isn't that great at cutting, it has a thick edge. if someone did a regrind to thin it out it would be much nicer.

mine isn't in that great of shape cosmetically, but functions fine and had a good edge with no chips or rolled spots. Contact me via email fast14riot@gmail.com if you have any other questions about this knife.

I think the tanto is a good blade shape, my best one is actually a CRKT M60, its AUS-8 steel, and i do enjoy it, it got nice and sharp. IMO 440a isn't THAT bad, but there are way better steels out there.
D2eux- if I find any first strikes from online dealers ill pm you.
