Hi,I got a birthday coming up soon & the wife asked what I wanted.I suggested one of these.
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/sear...fault.asp+KW+Box&s=SEARCH&a=search&k=damascus

I'm in their buyer's club,so I'll be getting the 10% discount. It's real damascus too & not the acid etched type.I'd like to keep it under $100.She wants to use her own money & not our money.I don't like her spending too much on me concerning birthdays.I honestly don't know anything about damascus, other than the fact that it's real perty:D.Anyone have any experience with these Puma damascus folders?Regarding the price compared to others like Boker for instance,I'm assuming they're crap.I'd be using it primarily as a gents knife..ie:no hard use cutting.I'd love to have a Willaim Henry damascus gent folder or a small sebenza damascus, but that's probably never gonna happen(unless I come into some serious $$),because of the price factor.

I can't vouch for the quality of the Puma knives, but Smoky Mountain has the large one for $50.00 with free shipping.

The only other brand I can think of is the Mcusta Basic line ( in Damascus). But they will cost around $100.

Cool! Thanks for the tip:thumbup:.I gotta check it out.Sportsman's Guides' prices aren't that great I know, but the only reason I keep renewing my membership with them is because they usually have great deals on mil-surplus reserved for buyers club members.

Yeah they always get me once a year too. They start making the renewal offers about 3 months before it's due to expire....:)

After a bit of searching I came up with this one:
Mcusta Knife MC1, Damascus Blade, Green Micarta Handle, Plain
Features a 3.25 in Damascus w/VG10 core steel blade and a 4.25 in. green Micarta handle. Comes complete with a pocket clip.

It's around $96-$115 depending on where I get it.I think it'll be a good first damascus gent knife.Maybe a bit plain, but I don't need anything real fancy. Thanks for the tip on Mcusta JPD1998:thumbup:
They have a lot of nice stuff.I get the feeling this won't be my last from them;)

P.S. I especially like the skull crush...er uh..I mean glass breaker on the pomel:D

On second thought I'm thinking about getting this one.It has all the specs of the one with the green micarta, except this handle is made of dupont corian.I like the contrast of the damascus blade with the white handle. What do you guys think?

Can't go wrong with Mcusta....

You might be able to score a Buck 110 in damascus for $100...

FYI damascus is acid etched to bring out the pattern. I think what you are referring to is that some cheap knives have a pattern etched on (the difference is one pattern shows the layers of steel while the others "paint" on the pattern with acid).

I really like the looks of Mcusta and hope to hold one some day!! I have not heard anything negative about them.
