I want to carry this on my EDC Backpack (Side Molle)

I'm thinking the RC-3 Mil would this be an excellent model to start this addiction> :D

Also, looking at this for EDC, SD, Camping, Light Baton/Fires Starting.

And then there is the 4 hmm...

Let me hear some thoughts!

Also, since it's 1095... how do you take care of it from rusting easily?
 
hi and welcome. the 3 is a great knife to start with. it makes a great edc and camp knife, cuts and starts fires and is up for light battoning. as for it rusting just use it the coating protects it from rust. if your worried about it wipe it down with mineral oil.

i live on the gulf coast and keep a light coat of oil on the edge...its works just fine
 
I can't tell you anything about the 3 or 4, but as for rust I usually just give it a shot of whatever oil is most convenient if I get it wet or something. I like to use mine in the kitchen so it's usually olive oil or pam or something like that.
 
Also consider the HEST. They're out of production so if you want one, you better hurry along to get it of you choose it.
You can't go wrong with the 3 or the 4, though.
 
the 3 is a great start, but it will be just that a start. these are great knives and you'll end up buying more. I started with the 3, then i got a 4 and a 6 and ill probably be getting a 5.
 
3MIL sounds like a good start to me. I started with the 4 because it was a supposed to be my "only one". Yeah, so much for that. :D

I love the 3MIL. I like the 4 a little better for my use because it is just a tad thicker/stronger and the extra blade length is nice for some tasks. I also prefer the kydex sheath the 4 comes with over the injection molded sheath of the 3MIL, but they're both very nice sheaths, great quality.
