Ok my sharp tool friends I have a dilemma. I know absolutely nothing about fixed Blades but yet want to find one I can edc for the next 10 years possibly or at least a long time. I've been looking at 3 so far and but first let me tell you what I'm looking to do with it. I want to either carry in the waist band or in the pocket. NOT OPEN CARRY ON THE BELT. Mainly personal reasons but also my job my frown upon that. Obviously it will be a hard use knife as all my Blades are because I use them how and probably a little harder than they were intended. I edc a benchmade Griptilian, and a kershaw leek currently. I switch it up every once in awhile but always 2 of that size. I want something as good of quality as the grip. I swear that thing is bullet proof. So for the 3 I was looking for. So far I seem to like what I'm seeing with the ESEE 3p the Esee Izula 2 and the Ontario rat 3. Unless a esee 4p isn't to impractical size wise for edc. Mainly I just want to stay at or less than $100. Please tell me anything you know that can help me and introduce me into a whole other world. Thanks in advance and stay sharp

YOU need lots of help? Buddy, around here we all need help. Professional help:D

Kidding aside, ESEEs are probably your best bet. Very few complaints about their knives:thumbup:

+1 to that and you mentioned Ontario, which I've had good experience with... that said although I started out as a fixed blade only guy, I don't have a lot left these days and don't keep up with all of the newest and best in the fixed blade category, these days.

I vote ESEE as well! Can not beat the warranty!

I have an cord wrapped Izula that I stick in my pocket every day and it serves me well. No boubt in my mind that with some good care it would last long enough be my grandson's grandson's knife.

Sadly for them I plan on being buried with it :D Joking.

Wow so Esee seems to be pretty dominant in the fixed blade game huh?. So Izula 2 or 3p? Or is there something better in my price range?

Don't forget to look at KABAR Becker Necker and EsKabars. Necker has a bottle opener on it if that's your thing.

Definitely look into the beckers, I'd reckomend with the bk14 or if you prefer semi stainless then look at the bk24

Or if you're looking for something a little larger than the bk 16 & 17 are great options as well

Own and carried an ESEE 3P in desert tan for a while and have zero complaints. Big enough for the vast majority of edc tasks while being small enough to carry comfortably. ESEE makes a solid knife, very good factory sheaths, and as mentioned, has one of the best warranties out there.
Seriously, why haven't you ordered one yet? :)

Yeah bk14 is an excellent pocket fixie and a hell of a tough chunk of steel, warranty is as good as esee at a lower price point, sheaths arent quite as good.
Depending on use, both beckers and esees might be a lil thick for a lot of edc use, blackjack 155 in stainless I think is a lil thinner, the ag russel woodswalker is worth a look, and I have an Anza 13 that is an outstanding EDC for $10 more.
I also just got a bk15 a week or two ago that has become one of my favorite knives to scout carry, and it was $42 shipped on close out.

Hardly. ;)

Ka-Bar Becker BK11, BK14, BK24 are quite popular in the 3+" format.

For something more 'classy', check out the Buck 113 Ranger. It's even available in S30V.

I've always been fond of the ESSE 3 Mil-spec. Not sure how it'll do in your carry modes though. Probably not a good one if there are work issues either, you wouldn't hide one for long.

The ESEE-3 is a great knife. The '4 is pretty similar with the exact same handle and not much more blade, but it's thicker making it a clunky knife.

If you're interested in trying serrations, ESEE's are fantastic. You sharpen the whole knife on a flat stone, and they really zip through everything from plant material to rope and canvas.
