Looking to buy my first good flashlight

Well after carrying around a little gimmick LED keychain light, I've come to realise that a flashlight comes in handy at least as often as a knife does.

I'm not willing to spend a ton of money on one and don't want to carry around anything bulky, I already carry around enough junk to keep me pulling my pants up.

So I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive but decent LED light, I'm thinkin something that would take 1 AAA battery and not be too much larger than that.

Thanks in advance!

Check out Fenix flashlights they are excellent little lights, though some have a lot of modes that have poor cycling characteristics which can be a turn off. There is also the Arc AAA. A quick google search should bring up either light easily.

I recently got a fenix using AA batteries .It will take alkaline, NiMH or Lithium AAs. Fenix has a good assortment check them out.

I love anything made by Olight. I would suggest you google the T15,90 lumens with only a single aa battery.

Well I just looked at the newest Q5 has 120 lumens. Thats awesome I may to pick one of the new ones myself.

My vote is also for the Arc AAA or AAA-P DS. Check out the link chanwahyaoh gave. An Arc AAA will take any kind of abuse you can throw at it.

I carry my Fenix L0D all the time, it's (imho) the perfect EDC flashlight. Lightweight, powerful, AAA, durable :D

I also have a Fenix L2D (two AAs) and it's great if you know if you're going to be needing a torch.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'm thinkin about a Fenix E01. I know it's pretty low end, but I can't justify spending more on a flashlight right now, that money could be used for more knives :D

I have an E01 on my keychain always. It is nice, not the brightest, My T1 is way brighter, but for the size it is great. I would highly recommend it. I also broke the switch on my T1 and Fenix is sending me a new one, no charge! their customer service is very, very good.

I also heard that they are now offering a lifetime gaurantee on all of thier products, even if you bought them before they offered this.

+1 on the L0D, small and as much or as little light as you need.

The E01 doesn't put out a huge amount of light. You're not going to be tactically blinding anyone. But when you need light, its there. And it provides more than enough light when its dark out. However, the most important factor is that dead flat regulation. With a lithium battery, it'll put out 15 hours or so of constant output and there just isn't anything that can compare to that.

And at $15 shipped? It blows the Arc out of the water.

I have one of these. L-Mini
I needed a bright, long runtime, small light for work. This one has it all. It's shorter than my Fenix LT2 and just a little wider. It fits in the LT2 holster and hangs from my keychain. It's a very powerful compact light.
