Looking to buy my first Strider fixed blade

Hi everybody, I'm very interested in picking up a Strider fixed blade. I have a couple of questions I'd like to pose in order to decide which model I'd like to get. I'm certain that everything I'll ask has been covered at length somewhere but just please bear with me *L*

I am not kicking doors or prying the fuselage of burning choppers open, but I AM involved in a lot of overnight activities (all legal). I also do a lot of stuff in a maritime environment.

Right now I am leaning toward the BT, BG, and MT. I think that the MT looks like it might be more what I am looking for. However, the BT looks like a TANK! Quite an impressive looking blade. The BG looks really nice, but seems to be geared more toward the combat side of things than the all-around general purpose combat-ready blade that I need to have. If I am wrong, please let me know. I'm not here to find a knife strictly for general camp chores... I know what these knives are designed for.

I guess I had better start with the questions already... What I want to know is what would make a tanto point more desirable than a spearpoint? Aesthetics be damned... I want to get the right tool for me. Also, the SEAL model... what features made it particularly desirable to them and why? Did they have a preference as to tanto or spearpoint? And how is the new SEAL model different from the old model?

I don't see myself hammering my blade into a cliff side as a piton (hopefully) but this knife will definitely see hard use. I really appreciate your advice.

For many knives, the Tanto is stronger because there is more metal closer to the tip. With a Strider, however, even their spearpoints are stronger than other tanto knives. I love the history behind the tanto design and I like the ability to pound my WB into anything I want.

That is my limited knowledge on the subject. I'm sure there will be more to follow.

It is more of what you are used to, or willing to get used to. If you get used to tanto point, you can do just about everything that spearpoint can do, except skinning, but if you are buying a Strider, you probably already have a nice little skinner.
Tanto is great for penatration and strength. Tanto is great for slicing and dicing, but so are Strider's spear and bowie style knives.
The Seal 2001 is a beefy version of the 2000, the redesigned it.

Honestly, if you can go to a knife show and handle some of these, that will help you the most in your selection. I like tanto, and would vote for the WB or BT. Anyway you go, you will get a heck of a knife, that will do camp chores, but in a clinch can be used for more.

I appreciate the prompt responses guys... Thanks. What kind of knife is the updated SEAL knife (SEAL 2001)? Is it a tanto? If so, why would it be desired over a spearpoint? Also is it serrated or have any other aspects that would lend itself more strongly to the tasks it would be required to fulfill than other models?
Unfortunately I don't forsee an opportunity to personally handle the tools any time soon, so I'm having to go by what I can learn here. Again, I appreciate any and all input here.

Any pics of the SEAL 2001?

The Seal 2001 is a tanto. The tanto is desired because of penatration, strength and the fact that when used properly the tanto design actual makes two different cuts which means that it is very effective in its nastier uses. Don't have any pics, but the website in the Zombie Killer thread does.
