So i've wanted to get a zt for a while now, and i think its about time, so this is the best one, in my opinion, in my price range, the Zero Tolerance Hinderer 0566BWCF Assisted 3.25" ELMAX Blackwash Blade, Carbon Fiber Handle with Framelock, from knife center of course.

Any and all opinions on it or any others would be appreciated!

I don't have that particular one. I have one of the "regular" 0566's (stonewash blade, G10 handle). It is a great design - good ergos, good utilitarian blade, and carries comfortably. While I haven't seen the 0566BWCF, I have liked all the knives I've seen in Blackwash so far, and ZT does a great job on their CF handles. That would be a great first ZT. I'd expect you'd be quite happy with it.

The 0770CF is around the same price and is also a great EDC. There are also the M390 variants of the 0350 and 0770 with carbon fiber handles, but those cost a bit more. Then, there's the ever elusive 0562CF (regular production model, but in short supply at the moment), but that also runs a bit more.

What size blade are you interested in? Flipper or non flipper? Color of blade? Type of metal? There are a lot of choices and that is why I have probably owned so many of the Zt models. My favorite has been the 0550 but I have a 0770 on the way that I would like to carry for a work knife.

I just got my 0556bw in the mail today, and I'm already in love with it. It is my first ZT and I'm very impressed with the build quality. Deassisted and centered up first try, which is a lot more than I can say about my blur I deassisted before giving it to my father. I think the 566 will do what none of my other knives did, kick my ram out of my pocket.

The 0566 is a great introduction to the ZT brand. My first was the standard 0566. It is a great knife. I have owned a total of 4 ZT's, currently have 3. I will warn you: buying the ZT Hinderer designs gives you the hankering for a true Hinderer. I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet but...

I have a couple of 0566's... but I typically EDC a 0770 (usually with a fixed-blade friend):

Definitely worth a look...

The 0566 is a great knife. Solid build, good heft, awesome ergos. I think you'll love it. If you don't like the Speedsafe, the 0566 makes a great manual flipper.

To piggyback off of Derek's suggestion, I also think the 0770 is a worthy contender to look into. It's smaller and lighter than the 0566, so it carries better in pocket. Also, the blade shape is classier and just as utilitarian as the Hinderer design. I'm loving this one right now.

I got my 566 on Friday. It's my second ZT- first was a 350TS. I can say that I live this knife. Ride very well in the pocket and fits extremely well in the hand.

The 0566 was my first ZT. De-assisted, I really like it for the smoothness, heft, ergos and deep carry clip. I picked up a 0566BWCF recently and it is also very nice, though the differences are mostly cosmetic. I prefer smaller blades, so I don't see many more ZTs in my future...but I would recommend this model for sure.

Look at the Kershaw Cryos for something vaguely similar at a much lower price.

The 0566 is a great knife. Nothing but good things to say, however if you can manage just a bit more $ and don't mind another 1/2", the 0562 is the way to go. It's just damn near perfect and one of the best knives for the money...IMO.

I'm looking at getting my first ZT or Benchmade soon. I like the 0560BW and 0566BWCF from ZT, and the 810BK and 940-1 from Benchmade. Because of my budget it's between the 0566BWCF and the Contego 810BK. I have a Cryo that made me fall in love with the hinderer designs. I'm leaning towards the Contego 810BK first, but I worry that the 0566BWCF will be gone by the time I get around to getting one. Any thoughts on these knives?

Edit: I went ahead and snatched a 810 from the for sale sub forum. I can't wait until I can get a ZT next. I also look forward to your thoughts on it when you get the 0566BWCF blade maniac.

+1 on this. I deassisted mine and it's great!

Although, I will admit: the arrival of the 0562 has almost completely kicked the 0566 out of my pocket. Great ergos, amazing flipper, and the slicer grind is so utilitarian. But it's a few more dollars than you're looking to spend right now.

mmmmhmmm :D

The 0566 or any of the below will suit your needs ;)

I Just received a new ZT350sw and after a day of open/close it developed a grinding vibration and noise when closing the blade. I'm returning it and wondered if anyone else has had this problem. I would like a new one but don't really want another problem knife.
