what are the major differences in these 3 types, are they even available in the 12-14 inch range?
i need help figuring out which to buy for a packable chopper to compliment my biltong, and 12 inch sirupate. which one of the 3 is the cheapest probably?

Generally, none of those models come in sizes below 15 inches.
They are meant as choppers and a 12 inch khukuri isn't a very effective chopper.
They are all roughly in the same price range.

uluapark, I have encountered several smaller HI knives, but they are almost never those designs, if you want a blade that is only 10 or so inches, look into buying a Ycs karda , or a kumar karda, even an r-10, all great knives and the size you are looking for.

Here's a thread about 12 inchers:

I'm thinking the AK would tend to cost the least of those 3 models, since the other 2 models are more of a special item.

Another difference is availability
Ang khola - In production
bonecutter - In limbo
astk - In production (currently)

In the size you are looking for, I recently got this and I absolutely love it.

I absolutely love mine too. I sometimes just sit and hold it, just to hold it. I love it soooooo much.

Mine is 10 1/4" and I want both a smaller version (everyone knows that) and a bigger one too. Guess I'm just a wanter huh?

I've got one too! I do so love it as well, it just feels so riiiight.

LOL...something is wrong with us, what'cha think?

16.5 inch CAK, AK, or Bonecutter will do your chopping with ease.
A Ganga Ram Special around this size would also be a force to be reckoned with.
I have a 12" and it just doesn't even come close to the chopping ability of my 14-17" range Khukuris.
Light and chopper don't always go together, but if you look in the 14-17" range I don't think you will be disappointed.
Have a look at the WWII and the BAS as well since they might also do the trick.
As long as you are in the 14-17inch for your chopper you should come out OK.
To give a reference I'm 5'8" and 230lbs (not all muscle, believe me) and I can swing my 14-17" Khuks with no issues.

For the smaller one, are you just going to wait for one to fall off the sky or you will eventually make a custom request for it?

The Pen Knife is an absolute gem also. Perish the thought but if I had to get rid of everything but one, I think that Pen Knife would stay.

It's not a chopper in a true sense but it's an incredible camp knife capable of doing a whole lot. And one of my favorites. I've used mine pretty considerable.

I don't think I could get down to one ever, just not possible. One new one a month perhaps.

Course a Bowie and a M43 or WWII or Foxy, nope can't do one, I'm hooked.

Gonna bandwagon the Bowie, for the size it will do all you need or you can get its big brother. I am patiently waiting for the smaller one to arrive, then the triple threat. Here is a little taste:

I would stick with the 15" 20once range. I have a BAS in this range and it is heavy enough to chop but light enough to use. I also have a GRS that is the same length but 23 ounces and you can feel the difference after a day of work.
