Looking to pick one up to wear to work (suit). I would want to keep the blade at a little under 3 inches. Has to lock open. I would like useable damascus so I am guess it would hVe to be stainless. Elephant ivory would be a nice option if not to costly.

Thanks

Mnandis are nice knives but this is a custom and handmade knife discussion forum.

And, for what it's worth, there are plenty of makers who could make you a custom, one-of-a-kind knife in the same price range as a CRK with a damascus blade.

go to: exchange-folders, and see what our custom knifemakers are selling. That way you will get familiar with their work, and style.

Also, no need for stainless, unless you just want it. Very minimal care is all
that's needed for a carbon damasus blade.

Not in your price range, but a good time looking at damascus gents. :) http://cliffparkerknives.com/

Don is right on in saying that your request is a tall order for that price range. A gent's folder with damascus & ivory will typically run more than your limit.
Also, you will find that the vast majority of all damascus is made of carbon steel. Do a little research before making decision as to steel properties & maker's reputations. (The usability of a custom blade is often more contengient on the maker's abilty to get the most out of their chosen steel than it is on the type of steel used.) Then decide what is most important to you in your proposed knife. There are quite a number of makers here who can make you something to be proud of.

Yea I figured price was an issue. I think ill go with the mnandi and do more research before going custom.

Thanks

Liquid, the knife in my avatar photo is a 4" stainless damascus stag lockback by John C. Howser of Frankfort, KY., and was less than $500 just last summer. It can be done.

That's a great price on that knife, man!

Liquid, also check out all the custom knife purveyor sites. Good luck!

Glad you cleared that up Don.
For some reason there's this perception that carbon steel damascus is delicate or just for looks. Simply NOT TRUE!

And yes, John Howser offers a great folder at a great value.

How about a Cliff Parker folder for $825? As the guys said, check dealer sites, you never know what you will find.
