Hello fellows,
a while back you all helped me make a decision on my first CRK. I ended up with a small insingo and am extremely pleased with it in every aspect.
Now I am ready for a Mnandi.
This would most likely become my office/dressy occasion knife. I am in need of help on trying to decide on what Mnandi configuration I should get. Chances are this Mnandi will be my only Mnandi, I don't see myself spending that kind of money again on a same or similar knife.
So would you kindly suggest the model I should go for keeping in mind this will be my only Mnandi.
I am also open to Damascus steel.

Looking forward to suggestions and pictures if possible.

Thanks!

Definitely go with a Damascus blade, the inlay is your personal preference. There are so many gorgeous woods to choose from. I don't think I've ever seen an ugly mnandi.

For me, I think the Ebony wood and Damascus is a classy combo. I have a large 21 in that combo and aboslutely treasure it.
Whatever you choose, it will be a good looking knife.

look at a box elder burl with damascus blade. i've always had a thing for those myself. very classy all around.

A dark wood inlay with a Damascus blade, or ivory inlay with a plain blade. Those are the only worthwhile options, IMO.

Unless you can find a zebra... :)

thanks for the suggestions, these are all beautiful knives. I can easily source ebony, bocoti, cocobolo and snakewood - so I can get these at any time, but some of the others are hard to find such as ivory, box elder burl etc...are there any others to consider that are not common? Should I wait to find something more unique or just grab one of the four available I mentioned?
By the way, I am trying to avoid cross border shipping (I am in Canada) so I am talking about availability in Canada for the ones mentioned above that are available to me. Of course If I find a killer deal (in the US) for a rare combination I will go for it.

I just picked up a Bocote with ladder damascus here on the Exchange and I love it. Keep in mind the current wood choices are being replaced. If you like Bocote, Snakewood, Gabon Ebony or Cocobolo you might want to pick one of those up while still available. I agree that the damascus blade looks just perfect on the Mnandi, and I prefer the ladder. The current blades I see in raindrop seem to have too "loose" of a pattern. Until I saw ladder damascus on a Mnandi first hand, I had no appreciation for how beautiful it looks!

If its not damascus I would stick with an old model. On damascus blades it does not matter as much. Also know damascus models tend to feel a little gritty from the ball in the lock riding over the ridges of the damascus until it wears in and soothes out the track.
