Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new knife soon. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a semi custom or mid tech knife for around $400.

I'm assuming you want a folder.

What size, features, & uses?

Ya I should have mentioned that, the blade size for me would be right around 3 to 3.5 inches, some knives I've already looked at are the kingdom armory mini samaratin and the three sisters forge beast. But I would like some more recommendations :)

For $400 I'd go Sebenza. The small fits the bill well and you can afford one with inlays if you like.

If you want something more tacticool looking, the Strider SNG or Grayman Dua.

What is the intended daily use? Are you cutting through an airplane's fuselage on daily rescue missions or just opening packages?

I'll second the Sebenza. I just finally picked up a Large Sebenza 21, and I've not been the least bit disappointed. The quality, fit, and finish are rivaled by none that I've had.

I'm really looking for a good hard use edc blade, I will be opening packages as well but need something with some beef, I like the dua but can't find any at the moment.

Despite it's more elegant looks, the Sebenza is well-suited for hard use. That's one of the reasons behind its popularity.

Now, if you're looking for some with a more rugged appearance, that's another matter.

Yes, I really like the rough look on knives, that's why I'm not 100% on the sebenza. I like a nice rugged looking knife :)

For rugged looks AND hard use functionality, the TSF Beast should be perfect. Love the water-jet pattern on the scales. I guess the new ones are a lot more rounded, making them more suitable for use without gloves.

Ya I really do like the beast, and they are 300 on blade hq right now. Not to many people seem to know a lot about the mini samaratin so not sure about that blade.

CRK Umnumzaan, Wilson Combat Zaan looks good or the regular zaan
ZT 550
ZT560, 561, 560BW
ZT 0801
Strider SnG
Spyderco Domino or the Southard, Now the Southard is in a blacked out version
Spyderco Gayle Bradley
There's a lot for good choices to be had, be patient and one will jump out to you and you'll know that's the one

Dua or Sebenza, no doubt.

If you want total rugged tacticool the Grayman Satu.

How bout any of Mick Strider knives, beyond the rumor and innuendo about Mick, the knives are tactical bad assess. In case you get a rowdy box. Lol. I loved the one I carried on duty, it retired with me. Just a thought and please no character assassinations. Just suggesting a knife that protected me for 20 plus years.

I would buy 2 Spidies.

Southard and a Domino

1 knife is never enough
