I have been lurking around in the Busse forums quite sometime and im tired of being out of the circle. But im at a loss for how Busse operates. all i ever see on the web site is one knife and they have changed once since ive been looking. So do they make one knife at a time and when its out move on and you have to find it used? do they have a custom shop? Can you order discontinued designs? Are there more knives available than the Fusion Battle mistress thats on the site?

Here are the ones i like that i have seen in the order i like them

(i think both of them are in the first 2 pages)
and the Fusion Battle Mistress on the Busse Site

how would one go about getting one of the top two and what is an estimated price.

and finally since Busse is expensive (although im sure they are worth every penny) should i start off with a Scrapyard or Swamp rat and progress from there?

Nah, go big or go home. :) The trickster was a Custom Shop Order as I recall and would be quite pricey. I don't know what Eric had to give for it on the secondary market, but I bet it pinched him where it counts. The Tankers come up for sale in the secondary market from time to time in the $400-$500 range as I recall. Your sure thing is going to be ordering a Fusion Battle Mistress from the website right now. Also, the Busse Company Store is a good place to watch for models to come up, like the little handy Game Wardens you have probably seen recently. When a model comes off of the main website and you didn't manage to order one then, look at the Co. store because Skunker will have something sometime after the orders start shipping.

You can always check the exchange here and see what is for sale on the secondary market. Do your homework and decide what you are willing to pay for a certain model that trips your trigger and then wait.

Welcome aboard!

when i have been asked about the, busse, swamprat, and scrapyard relationship, the best explanation i can come up with is this: its like the gap clothing stores, you have old navy (least expensive, but still good quality), the gap, kind of middle of the road, and banana republic (higher prices, better materials).
i use this comparison because most people are familiar with the gap.

scrapyard are now the most reasonably priced, swamprat has filled the middle, and busse combat is where you will spend the most money.

i have all three, but my heart truly belongs to busse.

i agree with gunner, get the fbm, dont 'settle' if busse is what you really want. you wont be disappointed. but you wouldn't be disappointed with scrapyard or swamprat either.

alright fellas thanks for the info.... keep it comin, im eying the FBM, how long does a run of a knife typically last?

I'm not sure there is a typical time...but then I'm pretty new myself.

I suspect it depends on production capacity and the interest expressed by customers. So, if Mr. Busse's capacity is larger now and if folks are ordering at a decent clip, then the FBM will be available to order for a longer period of time.

I'm sure a 'true HOG' will be along soon to tell us both.
