I am looking to have my KA-BAR customized and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to who may be best for the task. Some of the things I am looking to get done is to have the coating stripped and the blade reprofiled into a spearpoint.

Also, if anyone has any custom KA-BAR pics, I would love to see them. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure those knives are not too hard. You could probably do the work yourself with a couple c clamps, files and sandpaper.
It's fun screwing around with knives like that.

Other than that, there is that Tom Krein fella who is known for regrinding knives.

Dutch, I didn't do anything with the blade cept Scotch-brite the coating off.
I shortened up the tang about an inch when cutting the pinned pommel off, ground down top side of the guard.
Then Micarta handles with Corby bolts, and I made the sheath.
Forum member Knifenut1013 worked on the edge a little and it's about as sharp as you want a knife.
This is my first Ka bar mod, but sure won't be my last.

rayban, thats a great looking KA-BAR you got there! Thanks for the pics and the info.

Do it yourself !

It's fun , somewhat easy depending on what you plan to do and most of all rewarding.

No pics but I modded mine recently , just got rid of the 'paint', got rid of the top part of the guard and that was it.

I would like to put a hammer type end on it like the old Air Force survival knives one day.

Turning it into a spearpoint is an interesting idea.

By the way a file isnt going to cut it ( pun intended ) you will need a belt sander for that sort of job.
