I have a custom folder (a liner lock) that I would like to add some filework to. Also, I would like to have the thumbstud removed and a new one (possibly jeweled) added.

Is anyone interested?

I will gladly pay whatever your work is worth. I am very flexible on this and do not have any preconceived notions as to the type of filework inflicted...I mean, done on these knives. :D

Thanks to all.

Hi Dan,
The bad thing about filework is that its difficult to do on a hardened blade. I know some guys have the skill to do the work with a motorized tool or maybe some diamond files.Good luck on the project.

Mark,

I know it's harder to do, and that's why I'm willing to reimburse (nicely:)) the person doing the work. That's also why I'm open to anyone with any skill level. However, I would feel better if there is someone with better skills tackling the job. I'm also definitely open to random pattern filework, which should (am I right on this?) be a little easier.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I don't need any work done on the liners - unless the person desiring to do the work would like to anyway, for which I will gladly pay them for the work.

Have I failed to mention an ample reimbursement?? $$$ :D:D

(Is this posted in the right forum? )

Dan, I'd say you're posting in the right place here. Personally, I wouldn't want to tackle something like this cause I'd freak if I screwed up. But there are a number of people who do customize production knives. I often see their work for sale at Blade Auction . Maybe you could find some of those guys and get a deal there. Just a thought.

By the way, I'm not ignoring your edge test, just busy with life. I'll get on it soon, promise.

Dan,
One of the gents that does this type of work is Frank Recupero.
I don't have any contact info for him, but here is a link to some of his work over at bladeart.com.
They could probably help you contact him if interested.

Greg

Dave, Greg and Ebbtide,

Thanks for the input. I've done some researching and have also modified my original post to be more specific. I definitely do not want to do this myself. I need someone who has experience adding filework to hardened blades (or at least wants to learn on my knife:))

Here's the full story:

In another forum I posted I was looking for knife for my spouse who has just recently started becoming interested in custom knives. I haven't been able to find a custom that she liked. Plus, she has now insisted that I not spend too much on it. So, I got one that was a little less expensive but not exactly what she was looking for. I can tell just from looking at it, that it's just not feminine enough. (she hasn't seen it yet) I'm looking to dress it up some to make it prettier. Make sense?

If it turns out being more of a pain than it's worth, I understand. Although, I didn't really pay much for this one and don't mind throwing a little money into it.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Dan
