I'm wanting to get myself a war hawk and was wondering if I could get some maker recommendations. I'm hoping to keep it under $1000.00, but knowing me, that will change after I see what is available. My preference is for something forged, but I will definitely look at stock removal as well. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Dave Lisch is my first choice, (I mean it- he has my design already!) but I also really like Bill Buxton's hawks.

In addition to what's already posted, Raymond Richard does some killer forged hawks.

Great to see you back and posting, Keith !

I dug up Roger's John Cohea Warhawk thread HERE, I was in the market for a hawk a while back
and it came down to one like Roger's or a Winkler Sayoc R&D hawk.
I went with the Winkler but still, John's Warhawk is just so very nice !

Thanks Doug. John has done a a few of these, each one spectacular. I'll get another done with a damascus / copper head one day. This is easily one of the more visceral and emotive pieces I own. One of the most beautiful as well.

Keith it is good to see you back here on BF..........We have all missed you and we hope that you stay around!:)

I have a Winkler Sayoc R&D hawk........I love it!

and Keith here is the axe part of the set I have from John

all depends upon what you are looking for

Thanks for the warm welcome back. I am looking for a spike hawk. I want to look at many different styles to decide what I want. I really like the one Murray posted.

I applaud John Cohea's work. Here's why:

Good searching, Keith.

Lots of maker's are creating fine Hawks these days. Great to see you back Keith!
I've always liked Daniel Winkler's primitive Hawks.

^^^ Thanks Kevin. :) I'd completely forgotten about that photo. How forgetful of me. :(

Keep in mind that on request, Cohea can also supply Mississippi driftwood display stand that is a work of art unto itself and a perfect compliment to the hawk / head cover.

Given your budget, I'd explore the possibility of adding a matching knife:

Really makes for a special and impressive set.
