Hi guys. I've always enjoyed the feel of a well made knife or tomahawk in my hand and recently started trying to make my own. The first few attempts were complete failures, but then I finally made one that was functional (but ugly as sin). So I'll be around trying to pick your brains and learn to build the great blade that everyone wants to build.

I am right there with ya just started myself. Bet my first knife is uglier then yours.

Hey there guys I guess this is the place to be if you want to learn about making knives.I'm about to enter the heat treating stage of my very first blade.
I drew a pic on my work cpu.

John,If you really want to learn from some of the best, look into attending the ABS school in Washington ,Ark.It is the best investment in time you may ever spend (not counting that weekend with Cindy-Lou back in '78).Also find a maker near you (there are a lot in your area) and have him/her show you the ropes.Attending the Hammer-ins in your area is a good idea too.

Run a google search for Hammer In,Hammer-In,etc. Also keep your eyes posted on this site for hammer-ins.Contact the ABS (they have a good web site with dates, too) about the school and hammer-in at Old Washington.
I just checked,The Piney Woods Jammer-in at Old Washington.Ark. is next weekend Oct 29-30.Check the website www.americanbladesmith.com.
