First off, the title is a complete joke.

I just wanted to share with y'all a knife I came across at my local Target. So while my wife and mother-in-law were checking the cosmetics, I decided to walk down the aisles with my daughter. When I got the outdoors section, I started checking out the small hatchets and a few Gerber knives up on the rack. This design in particular caught my attention:

I don't know about you guys, but I immediately thought of the upcoming Kershaw Nura.

It can't just be me, right? From the accent lines to the choice of coating the blade in Titanium Carbo-Nitride, this thing said Sinkevich all the way. If I were him, I'd be a little bothered. Anyone else see the resemblance??

1. Target has an outdoors section?

2. Target sells dangerous things?

1. Haha well, they have a few knives and some tent spikes.

2. Have you seen how much butter they put on their popcorn? Pretty dangerous, if you ask me :p

gerber handle shape is closer to a Buck 110, not nearly as interesting as the Nura methinks

Yeah I see what you're saying. Maybe it would help if I posted a pic of the Nura 3.0. The pic above is the larger 3.5. Here's the smaller one.

I don't really see it. Different handle shapes, milling, etc. keepem sharp

The Kershaw has some thought to form. That Gerber looks like a chunk of aluminium to me. Beyond both being folders, I don't see any resemblance.

Yes, they have isles and isles full of garbage (junk food), loaded with stuff that will clog your arteries and make your heart explode inside your chest.

No I definitely see it, what's the handle material on the Gerber, SS or Al?

I don't quite remember what the clam pack said. I know the price was low so I'd assume it was stainless. However, in true Gerber fashion, the blade steel wasn't listed. I remember that much!

The Gerber knife pictured is a Traverse, a discontinued model. This knife was around well before the Nura was even announced.
As for the blade steel, it is true that Gerber often neglects to name the steel in many of their older knives, but they have become much more forthcoming for their newer models. In any case, Gerber's customer service is more than willing to tell you what the blade steel is if you contact them directly. This has been the experience of other BFC users regarding the steel used for the LMF II.
